Everyone deserves access to nature and adventure. The Adventure Access Project seeks out trails, parks, playgrounds, and overlooks in Virginia that are navigable for adventurers with disabilities.

Additionally, this project highlights Virginia nonprofits and organizations that specialize in outdoor recreation, adaptive adventures, and more.

About this Site

This site is intended to be a resource for adventurers with disabilities, as well as families, friends, caregivers, and others who care about inclusive access to nature. The Adventure Map is a Google Map that compiles my research as well as existing trail information to help you find a trail that meets your needs.

I'm also including links to some of the amazing organizations and individuals in Virginia and beyond that are committed to facilitating inclusive adventures, recreation, travel, and advocacy. I hope these resources will benefit you! Please contact me if you would like your company, non-profit, or project added to this website's resources.

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Brianne. I am passionate about nature and outdoor recreation. I'm also passionate about promoting inclusive access  to nature for individuals with disabilities. I'm an advocate for universal design and am working to help make the world a more inclusive place, one step at a time.

I started this project to gather information on trails and recreation in Virginia that have accessibility features such as Braille trailheads, wheelchair-friendly, rest areas along the trail, and sensory-friendly elements. If you are an adventurer with a disability, I would love to hear from you and learn about what you would like to see in your outdoor recreation!
